Dallas Police. A website called officer.com reported on December 30, 2011 that the police in Dallas, Texas, will no longer respond to what they call 'class C' calls. A 'class C' call is a theft complaint regarding a theft in which less than $50 worth of merchandise has been stolen. This corrupt policy by the Dallas virtually legalizes theft, if the theft is less than fifty dollars. Thefts of less than $50 amount to approximately 40% of all thefts from retail stores in Dallas. Dallas police chief David Brown said: "retailers with a shoplifter in custody should call 911". This implies that store employees are expected to hold shoplifters in custody. A quote from a Dallas police spokesman said: "Police wont' respond to a retailer's complaint if the stolen merchandise is less than $50".
